Teaching & Learning Onboarding and Training Experience
Lake Tahoe Community College
Hello and welcome to Lake Tahoe Community College. The faculty, classified staff, and administration are excited to have you teaching for us. Whether you are teaching in the face-to-face (F2F), distance education (DE), or RSP (LTCC Rising Scholars, formerly, incarcerated student program, ISP) modalities, we all hope that you will find your experience a meaningful one. We are all here to help, so do not hesitate to reach out to a fellow full- or part-time faculty member, a classified staff member, administrator, or even a student as you begin your journey at our college. The resources found in this training and professional development site are designed for the new and returning LTCC faculty member.
In this current form, this LTCC Teaching and Learning Onboarding Experience includes many videos and unique pages of content and links. Most of the content areas, such as this page, include a video component. These videos are intended to provide key overviews of the major areas in this onboarding experience, so in order to benefit fully from the experience, be sure to watch the content videos.
The structure of the onboarding experience includes a Home area that focuses on the main organization of this website as well as key aspects that may help orient your journey as an LTCC faculty member. Sub-sections of the Home page include an LTCC 101 area (which may help explain some of the major offices or people at LTCC), as well as college history, and links to social media sites. The Onboarding section of the T&L site is designed for new faculty member and is focused on ways of getting your LTCC faculty journey started. This page is currently being developed in coordination with the Office Instruction and Human Resources, so please check back as things change, The next page is Teaching and it is focused on the main dynamics of our teaching modalities—F2F, DE, and RSP. Use the many links and resource videos to help orient yourself in the teaching modality that you are experiencing. The Workshops segment of the site emphasizes the professional development opportunities available to you. Included are dates for the popular Tuesday Teaching Talks series (Tuesday from 12-1), as well as archive videos, handouts, and PowerPoints of past talks and workshops. The Technology tab emphasizes forms of instructional and professional technology that could up your game in terms of teaching or faculty professional life. Finally, the Reports section includes the annual T&L Year-End Reports, video versions of the reports, and Convocation welcome videos. Whatever your faculty focus is at LTCC, have a great journey as you navigate this website.
Please note that the LTCC Teaching and Learning Onboarding Experience includes a Web-based version (www.ltccteachingandlearning.com) and a Canvas shell. Essentially, the two are nearly identical in context, with the exception of some onboarding discussion boards on the Canvas site. If you are new and need access to the Canvas shell, please contact me and I will get you started. The idea for two versions is to provide some opportunities for new faculty to participate in the private arena of Canvas and offer some resources for veteran faculty who would like quick and easy access to the videos, links, and other content resources. Whatever your reason for visiting, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any assistance that you may require. Thanks, welcome, and good luck!
